A Blue
lagon patina called the “Stuart” patina
(Because it is totally original and it’s my
very own invention!)
• Prepare the bronze as recommended, by polishing
the piece and giving it a certain stain with 200 grain
sandpaper.
• Make a classic patina from copper nitrate,
with rapid rinsing mid-way through as always.
• Dip the piece patinated in cold water. Take
it out at 40°.
• Take a nylon brush. Dip the brush in the soda
and iodine concentrate.
• Apply it to the piece. A turquoise blue patina
appears at once.
• A first layer of barege is applied on the
green copper nitrate giving the green an ancient look.
The “Stuart” patina applied to this layer
will turn the blue lagon a deep turquoise blue.
• Protect the piece with a common colorless
microcrystalline wax layer diluted at 50°/°
with turpentine.
